HCL Technologies is Indian IT and outsourcing company, founded in 1976 and headquartered in Noida, India. HCL offers a wide range of services like Enterprise and Application development, IT Hardware etc.
HCL recruits freshers every year through campus placement, off campus & direct interviews and walk-in. Here we will go through HCL previous placement paper, syllabus & pattern and interview process.
The selection process in HCL includes the following rounds:
- Written test
- Technical Round
- HR Round
1. Online Test (Written Test):
There are following section & modules in the online test or written test:
- Logical and Analytical Ability
- Quantitative Ability
- Technical Ability
Note: Each section may consist of a 20-25 question with time duration of 15-25 minutes.
English section is very important and easy as well to score in the test. But it requires strong fundamental knowledge and verbal skills to get most of this section. Some of the topics in this section are basic English grammar(tenses, adjectives and preposition), reading comprehension, vocabulary, fill in the blanks, sentence completion, jumbled sentence and synonyms & antonyms
Logical and Analytical Ability:
The logical and Analytical section examines the logical skills of individuals. The topics covered are a puzzle, logical reasoning questions, Blood relation, Statement and Argument, Coding & Decoding, Data sufficiency, Directional Sense, Number series Pattern Analogy Deductive logic and Statement-Assumption.
Quantitative Ability is completely based on maths skills. The topics are covered from basic mathematics concepts such as: Algebra, arithmetic, geometry, Divisibility, HCF and LCM, Numbers, Decimal Fractions and Power, Profit and Loss, Simple and compound interest, Time,speed and distance, Logarithms, Permutations and Combinations, Probability.
In this section, the commonly asked topics include C programming, Data structure and algorithm, OOP’s concepts. Though these concepts seem easy, indeed it’s not. We need to have a lot of analytical and logical skills required to solve the technical question of programming.
The programming code is given, we need to find the output of the program or else find out the error in the code.
2. Technical Round:
Technical round is very important part in your selection process.
Some of the questions asked in this round are:
- Tell something about your yourself?
- Tell me about your Project?
- Your role in your project?
- What is cloud computing?
- What is Bubble Sort & other sorting?(Have good knowledge on code and logic)?
If you are from computer background stream(e.g. CSE & IT), then be thorough with topics like C language & Data Structures, OOPs concepts, Database.
And for other streams(like ECE, EEE, Mechanical etc.), be thorough with C programming and Data structures.
3. HR Round:
HR round is most tricky round in an interview. HR wants to check your communications skills first and later concentrate on technical stuff. So, give all the answers with a good confidence level.
Most commonly asked HR interview questions in this round are:
- Introduce yourself
- Regarding your family, projects and academic life.
- Are you willing to relocate?
- Why HCL?
- Do you have any issues regarding the bond?
- Do you have any questions for me?
